NACS charging stations in the U.S.
5,020 public fast-charging locations in the U.S. have a NACS plug, the Tesla-designed connector now standardized as SAE J3400. 3,146 of them are Tesla Superchargers; 1,874 belong to other networks, led by ChargePoint Network (736), IONNA (193), eVgo Network (113) and Walmart (110). The counts are rebuilt every day from U.S. Department of Energy data.
Which plugs America's fast chargers have
Of 16,198 public fast-charging locations that are open or temporarily closed, here is how many offer each connector. A location with more than one connector type counts in each row.
| Connector | Fast-charging locations | Share |
|---|---|---|
| CCS (J1772 Combo) | 13,130 | 81% |
| NACS (Tesla, SAE J3400) | 5,020 | 31% |
| CHAdeMO | 5,859 | 36% |
| Both CCS and NACS | 2,085 | 13% |
Can a non-Tesla use a Supercharger?
Each Supercharger listing carries an access note. Here is what the 3,146 listings say today:
| Access note on the listing | Superchargers | Share |
|---|---|---|
| NACS partner enabled | 1,858 | 59% |
| Open to all vehicles | 203 | 6% |
| Open to Teslas only | 924 | 29% |
| No access note | 161 | 5% |
Non-Tesla networks with NACS plugs
These networks have fast-charging locations with at least one NACS cable. "DC fast ports" counts every fast port at those locations, whichever connector it uses: the federal data says which connector types a site has, not how many ports have each.

|---|---|---|---|
| ChargePoint Network | 736 | 808 | 41 |

How the count is changing
We keep a full copy of the federal station list every month. This table adds a row each month.
| Copy | NACS fast-charging locations | Non-Tesla | Superchargers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-09 | 4,968 | 1,833 | 3,135 |
| 2026-10 | 5,005 | 1,870 | 3,135 |
| Latest daily data (2026-10-03) | 5,020 | 1,874 | 3,146 |
Since our first monthly copy (2026-09), the number of non-Tesla fast-charging locations with a NACS plug has gone from 1,833 to 1,874 (+41). Some of that is new sites, some is existing sites adding NACS cables or updating their listing.
How this was counted
- Source: U.S. Department of Energy, Alternative Fuels Data Center, public locations with at least one DC fast charger, open or temporarily unavailable (planned sites left out). Pulled 2026-10-03.
- "NACS" means the listing includes the Tesla / J3400 connector type. Counts are locations, not plugs.
- Supercharger access comes from the access note on each listing, as written by the network.
- Related: EV charging ranked by state, how fast the U.S. is adding chargers.
